Description
Genesis Technologies was founded by Arnie Nudell ( former founder of Infinity ) and Paul McGowan (PS Audio). The first speaker system they manufactured was the Genesis 1 (Gen1), a four-column mammoth system that literally reproduced a live concert in your listening room, provided the room was large enough. This was followed by the Genesis V (5), a much more modestly sized speaker, but still capable of filling a large room with music. Subsequently, they introduced models 2, 3 and 3.5. These were smaller versions of the Gen1. The Gen Vl is the descendant of the GenV. It is a bipolar system ( forward and rear firing speakers, with controls to adjust the rear tweeter) . The front panel comprises a ribbon tweeter, a flow-through midrange driver, a flow-through midrange/bass coupler, and one 8″ metal cone bass driver. The rear panel comprises two additional 8″ metal cone bass drivers and a ribbon tweeter. The rear-firing ribbon tweeter and the flow-through mid and mid-coupler tend to give the listener a better soundstage. All the bass drivers are powered by their own 600-watt servo-controlled bass amplifier which could be placed with the rest of the equipment and connected by its own proprietary bass amp cable. A servo-controlled amp is a high-current amp that precisely regulates the bass driver’s extension, thereby eliminating bass overhang.
This speaker system has had one owner and was originally purchased from us about 25 years ago for around $25K. The owner drove them with ARC Tube gear and was very conscious about burning the tubes, resulting in limited use. It is a full-range system in good condition, apart from a dented dust cover, courtesy of the cleaner. This in no way effects the performance. These speakers were designed to bring you closer to a live performance, so if this appeals, grab them.
